5 Artists to Invest In (8.29.22)

We are now able to invest in musicians in real tangible ways. Every Monday we showcase 5 musicians who are rising through the ranks at Phlote.xyz. This is an in-depth look at the future of music before it becomes the future.

When it comes to making great music authenticity rules over everything. Every year a handful of musicians turn the corner and take that leap that puts them squarely in the eyes of the general public.

SuperJazzClub

Athena put us on and its been nothing short of amazing since. This Ghanaian group is putting out some strikingly polished visuals that breathe new life into their music. The upside in this group is that there is no shortage of creative power here. We’ve seen groups like Brockhampton use an amalgamation of creatives from all mediums to define them and this is about in the same vein. Creating valuable intellectual property online requires a team moving in unison toward one collective goal. SuperJazzClub is doing just that and doing it well. If you can get in on this group now, I would.

Eem Triplin

Philadelphia breeds great rappers and when one of their own, Theodore Grams, dropped Eem in the index back on June 9th we knew something was up. A few weeks later our family at Pigeons & Planes crowned Eem as one of the best new artists out. Since then Eem’s profile has skyrocketed grabbing almost 80k instagram followers and about 110k subs on Youtube. Where there is smoke there normally is fire and Eem has provided enough smoke for us to know that his music is fire.

Jayson Cash

The combination of hard work and West Coast raps is always going to work well together. You really can’t understate the importance of the West Coast rap as an anchor to the culture. Jayson is a rising star but he’s also surrounded by very qualified folks like Fuzzy, who will help guide him past any business pitfalls. Many artists need those business minds to keep their minds solely on creating new music and Fuzzy is a name that holds weight. Another name that holds weight is John Wheeler, and when he put Jayson on our site all the way back in May we paid attention.

Raury

Raury had a run about 7 years ago that netted a lot of buzz but this newer version of him feels incredible. This new music and aesthetic is so calming and smooth. We see the work he’s putting in and the release of his newest project Strawberry Moon, is the evolution of an already talented artist. Time is something that the internet doesn’t account for and in the time that it took for us to get this project there had to be some evolution that happened to get to this point. If you have a moment this is well worth soundtracking a lazy Sunday drive.

Ben Reilly

If you are comic book nerd then you will know the name Ben Reilly but otherwise you’ll need to know this guys names. One tell tale sign that a rapper is going to have a solid 6-12 month run is if you see a string of press that actually matter and in that all the visuals look like there was a budget available. Even if there wasn’t any money behind the project the idea is that there was some care taken into the final product that we all see. Ben’s project is a tight knit piece of sonics and every video I’ve seen feels like any major label would have put it out. Ben’s live show is pretty solid as well, anyone who saw him at SXSW this past year can attest to that. The music is solid and the team is executing, anytime this happens in unison good things tend to happen.
